EEE PC is a small and low power notebook. But it also suitable for TV console like apple TV. It has ethernet, usb and dsub. The LCD display is the feature, not the redundancy, when comparing with apple TV. Whether the LCD display is redundant depends on how to use it. When you watch video, you still want to do other things. For example, you may browse web page. You may worry about baseball game (Wang). There are some advance features to do picture in picture. Do you like it? Is it perfect? I like picture non-overlap picture solution. And if you want to show your video to your friends without ethernet, notebook is the best solution. Comparing with apple TV, I will choose EEE PC. In current version, dsub + audio out is not good enough. The cpu computing power is not enough to real-time decode high resolution video (720p).

wine1.0 is coming. We can say Linux have word, powerpoint, excel, and photoshop. If they can support cracked version, I will say that is perfect. Microsoft creates VISTA with poor performance. The solution is poorer than linux + wine. First time, we will get 4 robust applications, and there will be thousands software to be supported. When wine can fully support thousands software, software developers will fully test their new software to compliant with wine. When it happens, Microsoft will get into trouble.
you must wait for 10 years and get wine ready to drink.

What happen Ubuntu?

Ubuntu will release at the day near Fedora's release day. The two distribution will be almost the same. Free software is very hard to release at the fixed schedule. Hence, ubuntu 8.04 is buggy. I suggest users change the ubuntu8.04, ubuntu 8.04.1 as ubuntu 8.04 RC, ubuntu 8.04 respectively. Using ubuntu x.xx.1 as the formal release is my suggestion. After 3 months, the bugs are fixed and the system is robust enough. The trade-off between fresh and stability is a little hard. ubuntu is fresh enough but stability is the weakness.

3. mount sftp server as file system by sshfs
command: sshfs username@hostname: mountpoint

4.backup/restore partition by partimage
command: partimage

5. umount file system
command: umount mountpoint

redhat v.s. ubuntu

當redhat從desktop撤離,留下一個fedora,美其名稱為最新的軟體,其實是redhat的測試版,讓ubuntu有機可乘,一舉拿下linux的使用率,但是高使用率不等於有眾多的開發者.Ubuntu的bug相當多,而且半年的開發期,時間到就會有新的版本進來,新的bug也跟著進來,所以整個系統變的不是很穩定.所以是不是要改成9個月的週期,讓bug數有效降低,系統的穩定得以提升,或者使用debian的unstable, testing, stable的概念,讓系統得以穩定,其實debian的概念是好的,只是大家都是part-time的維護者,所以做的不是很好,時間很難掌控,所以如果以公司的方式來執行,其實相當不錯
